Yes, if you’ve read my last post we are still fine-tuning what we are doing. We have found a buyer for our small herd of cattle and are very pleased with their future owners. They have had their vet check and are determined to be healthy. Pickup will be sometime this month. And of course there were the turkeys that were getting on hubby’s nerves–gone to new home as well. But we haven’t stopped there.
Fine Tuning Our Homesteading Direction
Have you ever jumped into something WAY too deep? And then had to back off a bit and reassess what you are doing? Well, that is exactly where we are right now with our homesteading adventure. Having hubby keep a full time job and then come home to homesteading is hard. There is literally so much to do. There can be a lot of stress. And so brings us to the point of downsizing a bit. Learning the Hard Way—AGAIN!
So about 8 weeks ago it was that time of the year when it seems there is not a lot of exciting things happening on the homestead. Everything was cold and wet. Planning For A Job Loss

In a survival situation, you want to be able to identify and understand the usefulness of pine trees. Did you know they are antiseptic, astringent, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial? Pine trees are also chock full of vitamin C. You can make a vitamin C tea by taking the needles and steeping them in hot water. It smells just like a pine tree and tastes piney. An easy way to boost your immune system in any situation.
New Spring Garden!!
So, as exciting as it is to be putting in new seeds and little plants in a freshly tilled spring garden, I have to say it is excruciating to me to wait for them to grow. I love the lush look of June gardens, with everything taking off and green everywhere. It just takes so darn long to get there!
Cuddly Wuddly Li’l Bears!
Yep–once again we had babies pop out of our animals this week without us realizing their approximate arrival. This time two little calves–a boy and a girl–separate births. Now for all you homestead newbies or wannabes, there is an important lesson for you here. Continue reading
